Sunday, 10th October 2021 Ma’akum Developmental Foundation mdf with funding from the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency – TIKA and in coordination with local authorities and Livelihoods and Food Security cluster, did an introductory workshop to improve livelihoods and food security for small coffee-scale farmers..
The workshop aims to familiarize stakeholders with the project, its objectives, outputs and various activities.
Eng, Taha Al-Hadathi, The Director of the Livelihoods and Food Security Sector at the foundation, stated that this project aims to enhance sustainable livelihoods and food security for the most vulnerable families of small farmers in the field of coffee cultivation in Taiz Governorate, Al-Ma’afer District, Tars Village, and support farmers to meet challenges , be independent, Self-reliance, and qualify them preparing natural fertilizers and treating pests in a way that ensures increased production and expansion of the agricultural area of coffee according to modern mechanisms.
The project includes the distribution of seeds, water tanks, fertilizers, agricultural supplies, and various awareness and training activities.
The project targets (20) farmers as a first phase, with funding from the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency – TIKA.

The Director General of Al-Ma’afer Directorate thanked TIKA, considering the project as an outstanding initiative and aimed at improving the livelihoods of farmers, calling for the project to be expanded to include a larger number of farmers.
The general manger of agriculture in the governorate assured that the project will have positive results in the future in encouraging families to move towards productivity and self-reliance, by increasing the area of coffee cultivation and educating farmers.
