Ma’akum Developmental Foundation (mdf) launched a project to Improve Livelihoods and Food Security in the Cultivation of Yemeni Coffee for Small Farmers in Al-Ma’afer district..
During the inauguration, (1400) coffee seedlings, (20) 5000-liter tanks, and an agricultural kit containing fertilizers, sprinklers, and a number of agricultural tools were distributed to (20) farming families in Wadi Tars in Al-Shu`bah, Al-Ma’afer District, Taiz Governorate, Yemen.
Taha Al-Hadathi, Project manager, confirmed that the project aims to enhance the capacity of farming families affected by the crisis to withstand and be self-reliance as well as improve community livelihoods and productive assets, which targets small farmers for the coffee tree, which may contribute to their resilience and sustainably improve their livelihoods.
Mr Adel Al-Moshmer, the director of Al-Ma’afer Directorate, praised this qualitative project, which will have a developmental impact on the rural community, calling for the expansion of the project, particularly Al-Ma’afer district is one of the most important areas in coffee cultivation. Thanking TIKA and Ma’akum Developmental Foundation efforts for its various fields in Taiz Governorate, noting that supporting farmers in this circumstance will encourage many farmers to return to the cultivation of authentic Yemeni coffee, which will contribute to development, coffee particularly it is required in the local and global marke and Yemen has been famous for it.
